Our tours usually run on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 and 5, although that can be adjusted. Please contact me by email at least two weeks before the scheduled date of the tour. This is because I work another job and that way I am able to assure that I will be able to guide your tour.
Payment will be made in CASH or CHECK made out to "Matt Casey" for the full amount. With cash payments, I DO NOT carry change with me and will be unable to make change or to provide you with any change. We can make a stop at a bank or ATM.
Other FAQs:
How long do the tours last?
My Revolutionary War tour of Boston takes almost 4 hours from its start at Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument.
Other tours are shorter or even longer.
What about food?
Boston has numerous restaurants, snack carts, food trucks. We can always stop at one for a quick bite to eat.
How is the walking in Boston?
Boston is an old city, and as such, there are numerous city streets that are narrow, one way, and cobblestone. Please wear comfortable shoes. The tours are not recommended for people who have heart, feet, or leg issues.
Will the tour be private?
No, the tours are open to the public. I only run tours on days that something is scheduled. If nothing is scheduled, then occasionally I will busk for a tour on Boston Common. I will also do that if a tour is scheduled - I mean, I am trying to make some money here. The more people, the more money. So, no, your tour will not be private. If you do want the tour to be private, there will be an additional $5 per person. This fee will not apply to school groups. Please note that tours with school groups scheduled on them will NOT be public.
What Should I Bring? Wear?
Boston's weather changes constantly. There is a saying that if you can't stand the weather, just wait for a few minutes. During the summer, the weather can be hot and humid and sunny, so wear shorts, comfortable shoes, a tee shirt, hat, and plenty of sunscreen (and drink plenty of water). An umbrella may also come in handy. In the fall and spring, the weather can be cooler, but ocassionally there can be days of sunshine and warm weather. In the winter, dress for snow and cold.
Will Tours Be Canceled?
Tours will only be canceled due to inclement weather. By inclement weather, we mean: Hurricane, Blizzard, Tornado, Earthquake, Lightning, Flood, or any other weather we deem to be hazardous to the health and safety of the guests and myself. Rain, snow, and cold temperatures DO NOT constitute inclement weather. If for whatever reason your group will be delayed, please contact me and we can reschedule. If we can not reschedule, a refund will be given.
